The Social Development Foundation hosted a poverty simulation called Plated presented by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield.
We appreciate all everyone who joined us for this eye-opening event. Although some didn’t know what to expect we are thankful for everyone’s participation. There were many eye opening moments for many.
Plated was not only an event fundraiser but an experience for individuals who are ready to Eat, Drink, and Fight Poverty. Plated was designed to give attendees an opportunity to obtain first-hand knowledge of many of the same situations that some of our fellow low-income community members endure every day. Through this experience, participants were challenged to see life from a different perspective.
Poverty is a reality for many individuals and families in Milwaukee County. Unless you have experienced poverty, it can be difficult to understand. Plated was an interactive exercise where participants experience a month in poverty. The simulation was based on real people and their lives with the purpose to increase poverty awareness and inspire change.
